Women in Games Vancouver is evolving to Diversity in Games!

WE’RE EXCITED TO SHARE OUR NEWS!

Women in Games Vancouver was first established over 10 years ago as a meetup community to provide a safe space to network, share experiences, and learn new skills. Our goal has always been to support talent diversity and the advancement of underrepresented people in the video game development industry.

Although Women in Games by name, for many years now we’ve emphasized our commitment to advocating for all marginalised people working or seeking to work in games.

In 2020 after in-person events were put on hold, we also established the Diversity in Games Discord server, and have stayed connected through new digital events such as the Lightning Lunch series, and casual online catch ups.

IT’S TIME FOR US TO EVOLVE TOGETHER

With the establishment of DIG, we’ve come to understand that using the term “Woman” in our branding is exclusive to the wider community that we are wanting to foster. We’ve now decided that the time is right to evolve the name of our community to reflect our ongoing group values!

Over the coming months we will be undertaking a rebrand of our website and communication channels! Please keep an eye out for updates on how to stay connected.

If you have any questions or feedback about the group or the rebrand process, we welcome you to reach out to us any time at womeningamesvancouver@gmail.com, or directly to an admin in the Discord Community at https://discord.gg/qzbC4NBumM.

We look forward to continuing to have you in our community, and all of the wonderful things to come as Diversity in Games!
